Sam Astra is the solo project of songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Samuel Ashkenazy. Born in Seattle and now based in Los Angeles, Sam has been writing songs and playing them live for most of his life.

He first made his name as a founding member of Foxy Apollo, releasing two LPs and more than 20 songs between 2019 and 2024 and touring up and down the West Coast. After nearly a decade with the band, he moved to Los Angeles to start a new chapter as Sam Astra, pulling funk, rock, R&B, jazz, hip-hop, pop and blues into one genre-defying sound.

Sam Astra’s first singles, “Balance” and “Nowhere,” arrived in 2025, followed by shows in Los Angeles, Seattle and Portland. Now “Waitin’ by the Phone” is out, with “Wanna Love” and the GET BY EP on the way.

With heartfelt storytelling and a love for both music and visuals, Sam builds songs and shows that pull listeners all the way in.
